Mileage Game 2010 Information

What is it?

The mileage game is a "just-for-fun" competition that we have here as a way to

1) motivate you to do the training that you already have planned and

2) to get to know a few forumites (your team) beyond the usual posts.

In 2010, we will initially have 10 teams of 14 runners who post their mileages for the previous week by Tuesday night. The totals are tabulated and rankings are created to foster some friendly competition.

How do I sign up?

First, you need to register on this site. Please see the other Forums for information on addressing problems with registering and activating your account.

Second, you will need to Join a team. Typically, it takes 1-6 weeks for a spot to open up. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. Here is how you should proceed;

After setting up your account, join the waiver list by clicking on 'Post your Miles'.

You can post your miles each week while on the waiver list. The waiver list is also visible to players on other teams who may be looking for a new teammate.

If there is a particular team you would like to join, you can email/PM one of the captains (contact information can be found in a separate forum. Once a spot opens up - you will be need to send a PM to barkeep so he can <kick you off> the waiver. Once you are off the waiver, you can join your new team. Most players either post at the forums at RunningTimes or at Runango. Look for the Team threads.

What are the rules?

1) Posts must be in every Tuesday by 11:59pm ET (no exceptions) to be counted in the tally. The miles are tabulated automatically at this time.

2) If you miss posting three consecutive weeks, your team can request a replacement for you on the waiver list. They don't HAVE to replace you though...like extended injury or vacation.

3) It doesn't matter what you call your week for mileage game purposes (M-F or Sat-Sun, Etc) so long as you stay consistent week-to-week and get your posts in by the deadline for the previous week.

4) If you miss a post, you can have a teammate post it for you before the deadline but you can't double up the next week when you get back, etc. Also, if you miscalculate your miles too low or get an unplanned extra run in, you can't add them next week. Honesty dictates you should subtract miles next week if you miscalculate too high on the other hand though!

5) Please don't estimate your miles for the week if you are unable to post unless you are in position to correct it before the deadline (for example, you tell your teammate to post your expected miles but phone them if you don't run as planned, etc)

6) In 2010, additional rules were created. They can be found here.
